| Message from the Premier
It is truly an honour as Premier of
Newfoundland and Labrador to wish everyone a Happy Canada Day.
This Canada Day marks a significant milestone in our history as
Canada celebrates its 140th birthday.
Canada Day is an opportunity for
all Canadians coast to coast to coast to join together and
celebrate what we share in this great federation we call our
home. It is a time to reflect on the commonalities we share
and to celebrate the excellent quality of life that we enjoy in
this great country.
Canadians are notorious
throughout the world for our generous demeanor, our diplomatic
nature and willingness to assist people both home and abroad.
Our country is dedicated to providing equality for all
and peace throughout the world. There has never been a more
appropriate time to stand proud and to be recognized as
Canadians.
As well, we should all take time
to reflect upon the brave efforts of the Royal Newfoundland
Regiment who sacrificed their lives on the battlefield in France
91 years ago today. The events of that day during
the Battle of the Somme at Beaumont Hamel are a significant part
of our history and we must never forget their bravery.
Best wishes for a safe and
enjoyable Canada Day.
Sincerely,

DANNY WILLIAMS, Q.C.
Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador
